TALK: Among kings and eunuchs in Assyrian palaces

C-salen

Susanne Berndt Ersöz is an Associate Professor at the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History, Lund University. She will talk about the ancient Assyrian culture in connection to the fantastic Assyrian bas-reliefs and wall paintings. The Assyrian kingdom existed from about 2000 bc until 612 bc and had its centre in present day northern Iraq.

Michael Rakowitz The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist (Room G) displays 19 recreated Assyrian bas-reliefs, made from packeting material from the Middle East. The original bas-reliefs were destroyed by IS in 2015.
