Latinamerika i Fokus presents three short documentary films from Brazil in connection with Malmö Konsthall’s current exhibition Leonilson – Drawn: 1975–1993. The films are screened with English subtitles and there will be a short introduction to each film.

Das águas que passam (Running Waters) from 2016 by Diego Zon. The memory of the Rio Doce (Sweet River), one of Brazil’s most important rivers, before it was devastated by the toxic mud on 5th of November 2015. Length: 23 minutes

Apiyemiyekî? (Why?) from 2020 by Ana Vaz. A cinematographic portrait that departs from an archive — Casa da Cultura de Urubuí, where over 3.000 drawings made by the Waimiri-Atroari, a people native to the Brazilian Amazon, during their first literacy process are currently kept. Length: 28 minutes

Reexisto (Re-exist) from 2020 by Lethicia Galo and Rodrigo Campos. Pandemic, quarantine, 23 photographers, 10 Brazilian states. More than 200 photos were produced between March and June 2020.
